Fully Engaged

My title was stolen from the title of David Jeremiah’s message I heard this morning, “Fully Engaged with Life.” This is such an insightful sermon! Please use the link to listen to it when you have time.

This sermon was about something that had been on my mind this morning. What is my daily attitude? Is it joyful? We as Christians are called to enjoy life!

This is the day which the Lord hath made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it. – Psalm 118:24

Thou wilt shew me the path of life:
in thy presence is fulness of joy;
at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. – Psalm 16:11

I am a busy person, and I like being busy (as long as I get enough sleep… 😏). Having lots to do gives me purpose, especially as I try to make everything I accomplish eternally valuable. But this morning as I was getting ready, I was struck with a thought: why am I not happy?
I didn’t know why. It’s not as though I was sad, angry, bored, etc. I was in my routine, not really having any attitude of any sort. I just hadn’t made a conscious decision to be joyful today. But that’s what God told me to do! This morning in my Bible, I read about God’s incredible love for me. That alone should sustain me with joy for the rest of the day, if not longer!

Please pray, as I want to, that God will give you joy throughout your daily life. Don’t go through the motions, do all to the glory of God! He gave us the commandment to be joyful because he loves us and wants us to have joy.

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. – Proverbs 17:22

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: – 1 Peter 1:8 (KJV)

A Bible study on joy would be a great thing to do. There are so many wonderful verses about joy!

How do you keep a joyful attitude every day?

  1. I agree! So important to maintain joy no matter one’s circumstances. Isn’t it interesting how our moods affect each other? Joy is as catching as any negative feelings, and I have to remind myself of that…

  3. Psalm 27 comes to mind: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (first two verses)” Joy can’t help but come if we grasp those two sentences! — Mike

  4. Making an effort to think of something that I’m thankful for everyday has been a huge help in maintaining Joy! Writing them down cements it in my mind, so some days when I’m trying to think of something new that I’m thankful for, I remember other things I’ve written about and end up being thankful for a few different things at the same time.

  5. Lol I love laughing and making others laugh and whenever you see me I’m always smiling lol. God gives me joy! By simply telling others about Him, being humorous or making them laugh brings me much joy and helps me maintain the joy He has given me daily. Even when I hurt, no one will never know for I choose joy in the midst of each trial. I would still laugh, smile and encourage others. It strengthens me! Truly the joy of the Lord is our strength! ❀ blessings sis!
