My Mission

First of all, I received something very special in the mail yesterday.

My friend Stephen wrote this book! Praise God that this all worked out for him. I’m so glad he was able to get it published, because it is a REALLY GOOD book. I can’t wait to read it in print. You can purchase his book as a paperback or ebook on Amazon. Please check it out, and also check out his blog, Fractured Faith!

Speaking of good books, I have been reading several missionary biographies loaned to me by a family member. These have been incredibly inspiring! I had heard the names of a lot of these missionaries, but I never knew all that they went through. Each book was packed with examples of people stepping out in faith, then God “parting the Jordan River” for them.

And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap. – Joshua 3:13, KJV

These missionaries are remembered today because they continually strove to fulfill God’s plan for them. No matter what afflicted them – illness, injury, war, government restrictions, material loss, loss of loved ones, the list goes on – they didn’t give up. These heroes clung to God for all they were worth, and in the end, were rewarded for their faithful sacrifices. There are people like that today, but as always, the laborers are few.

Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; – Matthew 9:37, KJV

I pray that God will use me, as he used those missionaries, to reach our dying world. I know that God will not hesitate to provide me with opportunities, and I’m open to them! If you didn’t know, so far I believe God wants me to be a missionary to India. If he tells me something different, that’s ok, but I would  be honored if you would pray for my future.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. – Matthew 5:14, KJV

For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. – Acts 22:15, KJV

How about you? How has God used you to reach those around you?

Awesome to hear that you like missionary biographies. They are inspiring, aren’t they? Those kinds of stories are still happening today for people that follow Him in faith. If you want to read one other story in ebook form may I suggest this book, You may find it encouraging in your own faith walk as it is a little more modern.

  3. I believe God’s plan for all of us in evangelization is ongoing. As for me, He is nagging me to fully realize that, as an ordained Catholic deacon, it is important for me to actively use my status for the greater good. When I write or speak, I must seek His guidance so that my words are effective, and be willing to take on subjects which may make others uncomfortable. Let God lead, in other words ๐Ÿ™‚

I will certainly pray for you as you pursue faithfully after Godโ€™s plan for your life. I hope that you read or have read the story of Jim Elliot. His wifeโ€™s book THROUGH GATES OF SPLENDOR is excellent!

  7. What genre is the book your friend wrote? Bless God for that vision He gave you. He uses me to encourage others a lot, pray, teach, discern, evangelize, not only through each social media platforms but away from it. ๐Ÿ™‚ I believe He’s calling me to missions as well but I’ll continue to seek Him where that’s concerned. I’ll keep you in prayer. Blessings!

  8. So happy to hear that God is calling you to missions. Praying He will show you the way to go.
I was on the mission field in Africa for 3 years and France for 2 years. Then the Lord brought me home but did not take away my call. I feel like He’s still got a mission for me to do with my writing and someday in the not too distant future with speaking and maybe short mission trips.
