I Have to Ask

God always hears his children when we are open to his will. Isn’t that a wonderful promise?

The universe’s Maker is ready to talk to me 24/7. So why don’t I ask more? God has the ability to solve every problem I give him. So… Why don’t I give him all my problems?

Many times, I find myself trying to accomplish something without God’s help, then just getting anxious or failing miserably. I end up feeling sorry for myself and getting even more wrapped up in my own little world of problems. Why would I do this to myself?!

It’s only my human nature, I guess. I tend to rely on myself, fail without God, and beat myself up over it. See the overwhelming self theme? I don’t need to be like that. If I just take a step back, I can see that things aren’t working out too well because God isn’t involved. It’s not that he will never help me unless I beg for it, but everything will be so much easier if I just give it all to him beforehand.

I’m helpless without him. But all I need to do is ask for his help and his will to be done, and that’s what will happen.

And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. – Luke 11:9, KJV

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. – Matthew 21:22, KJV

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. – John 14:13, KJV

Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. – Psalm 107:6, KJV

How has God shown you to rely on him?

After I graduated from college, I had no home and was living out of a friend’s apartment for the summer with failing finances and a crumbling relationship with my now wife. I used to walked the streets ready to quit, but God helped me persevere and now I’m married with 3 kids and a good job

  2. Thirty-some years ago, I was diagnosed with a prolapsed heart valve. I was advised that, in order for it not to become a big deal, it would be wise to work on holding stress levels down. So I had a long chat with my Maker, asking for His help in doing so. That was an important step in learning about humility, and about letting go and letting God.

  4. It feels like a great weight lifts off when we remember to pray, doesn’t it? And then it becomes exciting to see what God will do, how he will answer the request. So good to know we don’t need to bear our burdens alone.

Trials. The difficulties we encounter everyday are invitations to invite God’s power and ability into the situation. I find that it’s comfortable to rely on myself, it requires no faith, but it’s also a limited approach to life. I can only do things I’m good at.

For me, I don’t approach God because I lounge in my unworthiness – but God makes us worthy through Christ. This is the Truth, this is our access to Father God…the precious blood of the Lamb. “It is not by works!” I have to declare that all the time. I claim Christ and nothing else. Great topic!

  6. Amen so true. This happens to me as well when I try to do things “my way” instead of God’s way. He has taught me a lot to depend on Him in many ways during last year, that was a really rough but learning year for me. So I ask Him for help more now than ever, I still fail when I try to figure it out on my own but that’s when He always reminds me, “Child, you need me.” Blessings! πŸ™‚ oh great scriptures shared to.

When my children left home for the first time and I was concerned about them and their safety and relationship with the Lord, I knew that I had to pray about it. Now, I have nine grandchildren and God frequently reminds me to leave them in His capable and loving hands.

It seems so “easy” when we hold onto to things and yet so very difficult. Amen, going to Christ and praying, giving Him everything, it’s so crucial for our spirit and walk. He bears all things for us. He helps us in so many ways.
