I have been looking for a desk since Christmas, when I got the money I had asked for to buy one. I actually found one almost immediately. It was beautiful – just the style I wanted, just the right size, plenty of storage without being bulky, a bunch of great features that others didn’t have… Yes, this desk would be great for me.
But it was out of my price range, first of all. And it wasn’t even made of real wood (particle board or something). It wouldn’t be nearly as sturdy as a solid wood one. So my dad said I should keep looking. I tried on Craigslist because the desks people would be selling on there would probably be solid wood, because they were older. I looked. My mom looked. My dad looked. We all looked for a desk in the area pretty much every day. I was beginning to think I’d have to settle for something that wasn’t really the style I wanted, or didn’t have enough storage, because there really wasn’t much out there. But then one day, I stumbled upon the perfect desk! Ok, not perfect, it was the wrong color, but all the things I wanted it had. It has the leg style I wanted: straight, not turned; it had the cutest little hutch and a fairly good sized drawer; best of all, it was solid wood and very well made. My dad said we could definitely repaint the painted part white, and stain the wood part to match the rest of my furniture.
I love this desk! I’m so glad I waited for the right one to come around. As I learned, it’s really important to be patient. If God means for something to happen, it will happen, no matter how big or small the matter is.
Miss Potter, my kitty, obviously appreciates the new desk as well 🐱
