Just Call Me Metal Mouth

Today was a big day for me! I got braces, as I may have possibly mentioned before… Anyway, it was an interesting process of cleaning my teeth really thoroughly, removing the spacers, applying disgusting glue, putting the brackets on, and basically wiring them together. They actually only did my uppers today because they are so much worse than the lowers and therefore need more work. It does hurt, but as long as I keep up with the Ibuprofen for a few days, it won’t be that bad.

I think there’s a line we should be careful of between taking care of ourselves, like the Bible tells us, and being overly concerned about outward appearances. What matters when it comes down to it isn’t how straight my teeth are, but if my heart is in the right place. I’m on my way to straight teeth, and I’ve been working on the heart thing ❀

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. -1 Corinthians 6:19-20, KJV

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. -Philippians 2:3, KJV

I went through braces from the ages of 11-13. Not my favorite years, to be honest. But I hope you get great results from wearing them! It may be rough and painful at first but just think of the beautiful smile you will have afterwards!

  3. I’m going through half-Invisalign, half-braces right now! It’s so true; looking the best we can be for the glory of God is important, but having our hearts in the right place is even more so! You look great, by the way; love your scarf!

      1. It’s kind of like retainers, but they’re clear. You wear them all the time except for when you’re eating, and change to a new set every week or two weeks or whatever time your orthodontist says. Over time, they straighten your teeth, just like braces!

I think you have a beautiful smile πŸ™‚ you’re so right, outward looks are not important. I think inward beauty, however, tends to shine on the outside too πŸ™‚ and you have it!

  7. In retrospect, I should have had them. My oldest son is going through that experience now. He tells me he is focusing on the end result of straight teeth. My son actually has a blog on here but has been inactive for a while. He may be leaning toward ministry also. I appreciate you shining the light of Jesus here on WordPress. You are a blessing!

I should have had braces but didn’t. You have a great smile already. It also seems that your heart is most definitely in the right hands too. We are a constant work and our Creator doesn’t make junk. All of His work turns out Princes and Princess who are heirs in His Kingdom.
