For those of you who don’t know what 4-H is, it is a program for kids 5 to 19 years old, where you can learn about anything from photography to sewing to welding to chickens. I am a 4-H-er, and this year my projects are photography, speech, and cooking. I put a lot of work into my projects, and this week I have been rewarded. It’s county fair week! On Monday night, I gave my speech and got first place in my category, so that means I am moving on to the state fair. Today, I got second place in photography, so if first place can’t go to state, I will! Ok… Enough bragging. 4-H is a really fun program, but what you put into it is what you get out of it. If you don’t work hard, you won’t win or feel the satisfaction of a job well done.

Like in 4-H, with most things in life, you have to work hard to earn a reward. Many people think they have to work hard to get to heaven, but the truth is, no one could work hard enough to earn their way to heaven. The Bible says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) The awesome news is that God loves us so much, He doesn’t care that we can’t do it on our own. He sent His perfect Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for every wrong thing we have done and will do. All we have to do is admit that we are sinners, believe Jesus died for us and rose again three days later, and call on Jesus to forgive us. After you do that, you will have the Holy Spirit inside of you, guiding you to make right choices and live for Him. Isn’t that astounding?

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in the heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. -Romans 10:9
